Family Tents

Features and Maintenance

Family tents provide comfotable accommodations and room to move for a number of people.

Family or cabin tents are large tents with plenty of living space. You can choose from a number of available options, so make sure that the tent you select has the desired features.

These tents are made of a strong and durable canvas that lasts a number of years. The poles are made of aluminum or strong steel.

Tent Features

  • Size: Cabin tents are large enough to accommodate up to 4-5 persons and are about 20 feet wide. They even allow people to stand upright in the tent and walk in and out without bending down.

The feeling of space is enhanced further if the walls are vertical and not rounded as in the case of dome tents.

  • Design: Multi-room designs give some privacy to your family or group members. The main tent space can have either ridge or dome construction, and the side areas can be used for sleeping.

Adding dividers gives the option of converting the tent into a 2-room set that makes it very popular.

  • Furnishings: The large size of family tents allows the use of camp furniture like chairs, cots, and a table. This gives the feeling of a home-away-from-home besides making it comfortable.
  • Transportation and Setting Up: Transportation of these tents has to be planned carefully due to their large size. It will take at least two adults to set up and dismantle a family tent.

Please remember to follow the instructions contained in the manufacturer’s manual to erect the tent properly.

Using and Storing Your Tent

A few basic precautions will ensure that your tent gives you good service year after year. Some useful tips while using your tent are:

  • Avoid having an exposed fire or flame near the tent.
  • Secure any loose flaps so that they are not torn off in a strong breeze.
  • Do not hang any heavy items on the sides or inside the tent, since they could snag or tear the canvas.
  • Wipe any spills with the recommended stain-removing solution.
  • While dismantling the tent, disengage each item without using force.
  • Dry the tent thoroughly, clean it of any twigs or leaves, fold it as per instructions, and store it in a cool dry place.

Select a tent that fits your requirements, and maintain it to guarantee the tent's long life. Family tents can be a real source of joy and relaxation for your camping trip.

Tip:

There are many online outlets offering tents, as well as brick and mortar outlets, but in our opinion no one beats the daddy of 'em all, Amazon.com! They offer the widest selection of tents at the best prices. It's a fact!
